Grilled Salmon with Orange-Miso Glaze and Black Sticky Rice

Ingredients

  • 4, 6-ounce salmon fillets
  • 1/8 cup yellow miso
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon mirin (Japanese rice wine) or dry sherry
  • 1 teaspoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
  • Zest of half an orange
  • 1/8 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

Directions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the miso, orange juice, mirin or sherry, soy sauce, brown sugar, orange zest and fresh ginger.
  2. Brush the glaze over the skinless side of the salmon.
  3. Place the salmon on the grill, skin side down, and cook for about 6 minutes (since our fillets were fairly thick, this amount of time worked well. If you have thinner pieces, cook for less time). Just before you flip the fillets, brush on a bit more glaze. Flip and cook for about 2 more minutes.
  4. Serve with grilled asparagus, or your favorite vegetable, over black rice.
 
 Serves 4

I have never cooked with miso before and I would love to try it. Your black rice looks delicious – haven’t tried black rice either! I absolutely adore salmon but seem to make the same recipe every time, so next time, I’ll be trying yours! Thanks!

Thanks, Julia! I had never cooked with miso before either, and I’m not typically a ginger fan, but all things combined this was great and super easy!

i love salmon like there is no tomorrow, for a second i thought the rice was beans… this looks super delicious and healthy. my kinda meal!

I know, me too! We grill it a lot in my house. The rice was a great “something different” to pair it with. Hope you try it and like it!
